How SFH handles your information

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Society for Family Health (“SFH”, “we”) collects when you use our websites, attend our events, work with us as a partner or donor, or interact with our programmes — and what we do with it.

1 · Who this applies to

This policy applies to anyone who usessfhgroup.org and any other website operated under the SFH umbrella, attends an event we host, works with SFH as a partner, vendor, or donor, applies for a role with us, or interacts with one of our public-health programmes as a participant or beneficiary.

Each SFH country office and entity may publish its own privacy notice for country-specific programmes. Where those notices conflict with this group policy, the country notice governs the in-country activity.

2 · Information we collect

We collect personal information in three ways:

  • You give it to us. Name, email, organisation, phone number, message contents, CV and references, donation details, event registration details.
  • You generate it by using our sites. Pages viewed, device and browser type, IP address, approximate location, referring source, and similar usage signals collected through cookies and analytics.
  • Partners share it with us. Donors, government partners, and implementing partners may share contact information and programme-related data for joint delivery.

Programme-participant data is governed by the consent framework of the specific programme and is held by the relevant country office, not the group function.

3 · How we use it

We process personal information to:

  • Respond to inquiries and run our contact, careers, partnerships, and media desks.
  • Administer events, training, and the talent pool.
  • Manage donor relationships, grants, and procurement.
  • Operate, secure, and improve our websites and digital services.
  • Send our quarterly bulletin to subscribers who have opted in.
  • Meet our legal, regulatory, audit, and donor-compliance obligations.

4 · Sharing & third parties

We share personal information only when there is a clear reason to do so — for example with:

  • SFH country offices and programme entities for the purpose of routing your inquiry to the right desk.
  • Trusted service providers (hosting, email, analytics, payment processors) under written data-processing agreements.
  • Auditors, donors, and regulators where reporting obligations require it.
  • Independent third parties operating our whistleblowing facility (KPMG Nigeria Ethics Line).

We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

5 · Cookies & analytics

Our sites use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences, keep the site secure, and measure aggregate usage. You can decline non-essential cookies at any time through your browser settings or the site’s consent banner where one is presented.

6 · Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law, donor agreements, or our records-retention schedule. Talent-pool submissions are reviewed annually and removed if no longer relevant.

7 · Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to a data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, emailprivacy@sfhgroup.org. We aim to respond within 30 days.

8 · International transfers

SFH operates across West Africa and works with donors and service providers based in multiple countries. When we transfer personal information across borders, we use the safeguards required by applicable law — including standard contractual clauses and donor-mandated protections.

9 · Children’s data

Our websites are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 16 through our digital properties. Programmatic data involving minors is collected only in the context of specific public-health programmes, under the consent framework of those programmes, and is governed by the relevant country office.

10 · Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top reflects the most recent change. Where the change is material, we’ll do our best to flag it on the site.
